Frequently asked questions

What does Monoma do?

Monoma works with temporary use of buildings and creates homes and communities for people who need a flexible place to live. Our focus is to offer safe, affordable and well-functioning temporary accommodation in properties that would otherwise stand empty. We match people who are looking for a better housing option with buildings that have potential, and we work to create environments where residents feel welcome and connected. Through close cooperation with property owners and municipalities, we make sure that unused spaces become active, lived-in and valuable again while giving our residents a supportive and vibrant community.

How long can temporary use last?

The duration is flexible and depends on the owner’s plans. It can range from a few months to several years.

What are Monoma's core values?

Clarity – We communicate openly and make sure expectations are always clear. Responsibility – We act with care and take ownership of the spaces and people we work with. Creativity – We find smart, practical solutions for every building and situation. Reliability – We work as trusted professionals who deliver on what we promise. Transparency – We keep our processes honest, visible and easy to follow.

How does property protection work? - Guardian selection

Not everyone can become a Guardian. We carry out a thorough screening process that includes personal interviews. Our Guardians are responsible individuals who understand that they are not only residents, but also caretakers of the property.

How does property protection work? - Continuous support

Our team is always available to support both property owners and guardians. Regular inspections, quick problem-solving, and professional communication ensure smooth operations and maximum security for the property.

What is Mosaic World Community?

Mosaic World Community is the social heart of Mosaic World, bringing together residents, entrepreneurs and local initiatives through activities, learning programs and volunteer projects. Through this community-focused approach, Monoma strengthens the livability of its temporary projects and actively supports integration and social cohesion.

What is Mosaic World Community?

Mosaic World is an international group that develops innovative living and working concepts to address urban challenges and create social value. Across the organisation, several specialist brands work together: temporary property management through Monoma, long-term housing via B-Right Urban Living, creative workspace concepts through NewNewNew, and community-building initiatives under Mosaic World Community. Together they offer a full spectrum of services from temporary use to permanent housing and workspace solutions.

How does Monoma deal with laws and regulations?

Monoma follows all local Danish rules for temporary use of buildings, housing standards, and safety requirements. We work closely with property owners and relevant authorities to make sure every building meets legal expectations. Regular checks, documentation and clear procedures help us stay compliant and operate responsibly.

What happens after the management period ends?

When the management period ends, Monoma hands the building back to the owner in good condition. All temporary residents move out before the handover, and the property is delivered clean, orderly, and ready for the owner’s next plans.

What types of contracts are possible?

Monoma Denmark offers temporary rental contracts based on the building’s overall contract period. Tenants can end their agreement by giving the current month plus three months’ notice. A deposit and one month’s rent must be paid upfront.

How does Monoma promote livability and social cohesion?

Monoma brings life back into buildings by creating temporary homes where people actually meet and live together. By filling empty spaces with active residents, we help make areas feel safer and more cared for. We also support small community activities, encourage tenants to connect and make it easier for people to feel part of the place they live. In that way, we strengthen both livability and the social bonds around the property.

How does Monoma select residents or entrepreneurs?

Monoma looks for people who are a good fit for the building and the community, focusing on responsibility and reliability. Applicants are screened through a short intake process where background, purpose of stay and expectations are reviewed. Only residents or entrepreneurs who can contribute positively to a safe and stable environment are approved.
