Schæffergården, work and live like royals

schaeffergarden-slot-og-park

Schæffergården, an estate comprising hotel and conference center, is located in Gentofte, just 15 kilometers north of Copenhagen center. It is an upmarket area, surrounded by nature with a park and a large pond just outside the door. The combination between its history, nature, architecture and accessibility to highways and public transport, proximity to the Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen, make this project very unique.

An 18th century country house

The main building at the estate is a country house built in 1756, originally with the intention to serve as a lodge for Danish royalties when hunting in the forest nearby the property.

In 1948 the property was acquired by the Foundation of Danish-Norwegian Cooperation, who still owns it to date. Its purpose was to establish educational centers in Denmark and Norway, furthering cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

The property has over the years been extended substantially with hotel and conference facilities.

Tailored transformation plan

Recently the hotel and conference center had to close its doors due to the effects of the global corona pandemic, and the Foundation decided to adjust the scope of its future activities in the property.

Our team in Denmark took up discussions with the Foundation, and upon evaluating the needs and wishes of the Foundation and all the possibilities the property had to offer, we laid down a tailored plan to transform 2,500m2 of hotel and conference center facilities into a vibrant office community as well as attractive living spaces for students. Furthermore our Denmark office relocated to the office community.

The Foundation of Danish-Norwegian Cooperation still occupies the historic part of the property and conducts its cultural activities at the estate side by side with the new office community and youth accommodation set up by Monoma.
